[See: one rainbow pegasus wearing a pair of aviator goggles and standing... well, given the white fluffy stuff around her, it can only be assumed she's on a cloud somewhere. But given the trees behind her, it can't be too high above the ground.

Anyway...]

I know this place is full of fighters and all, but are there any athletes hanging around? I'm talking people who're into stuff like sports. Racing. Excitement. Not to mention competition.

See, it's fine keeping myself busy with some solo challenges, and there's no way I'm gonna stop working on my stunts, but I figure it'd be good to have some more variety. Plus, there could be some kind of super cool sport we don't even have in Equestria.

...Which means you should totally tell me if there is. Stuff like soccer, tennis, and hang gliding? I've already tried all of the above. I want something a bit more exciting than that.

[Hm, is there something she's forgoten? Oh, right.]

And if you see a purple pony with wings and a horn hanging around, that's Twilight. Try not to stare too hard if you see her; it gets old fast, and she's still adjusting.

That's right. I don't think he really seems like the type either, but I guess you never know. Looks can be deceiving.

[Well it's not too bad! The field looks normal, no ones flying up around (against their will) or sticking to the floor because the gravity screwed up or anything like that. In fact there's even a volleyball in there! It might look a little odd, but a ball is a ball.

There's just the slight problem of there being no net.]

It doesn't look too bad, huh? [He's pleased with himself.] I thought just choosing whatever back there would have made something much worse than this.

[There's a sort of eerie calmness coming from the situation, considering how well it's going and how well everything came together, but the feeling fails to register with him.]

[ She's ready for you this time, Dash. After not one but TWO midair collisions upon her arrival, she's tried to keep a closer watch on where she's flying, and for Dash's telltale prismatic trail in particular. She doesn't have anything close to Dash's speed, but she is able to see him coming, and she attempts a dodge to the left. ]

I dunno! I usually just train and stuff to keep myself busy, so I don't really know anything else to offer...

Maybe play some video games or something? I know some of those are around.

[...What is that ball. No, really, what is it? Dash stares at the yellow thing, fighting back a fit of laughter.]

Maybe it doesn't look bad, but that's gotta be the weirdest ball I've ever seen!

[She'll touch on the missing net in a sec here]

True. Fluttershy never struck me as the kinda pony who'd stand up to a huge dragon, but she's pulled it off before.

[It's cool. This time Dash'll dial her speed down, sliding to a stop with those goggles against her forehead and a slightly worrying smirk.]

So, you sure you're up for this?

Training? Hey, I can get behind that. That's practically what I do with a huge chunk of my spare time.

[Video games, though, not a bad idea...]

And sometimes I do swing by the Rec Center. The controllers for those games are a hassle, though! The buttons are way too small.

... although I don't think I could picture Jack standing up to a dragon ever.

[It's not that weird! If anything it's way more more interesting than just any old volleyball.]

[He picks the ball up and throws it to himself a few times to test the weight and feel of it.]

You're on! [ She straps her goggles on. ] Race you to the mountains?

Oh, well awesome! It's a good way to keep yourself busy.

[But hmmm. Yeah those are hooves...]

Maybe there's a controller for you in one of the shops? Or maybe someone could make you one?

Ha! That'd be something, though. A pirate and dragon brawl... I'd pay to see that if the stakes weren't so intense.

[A beat.]

...Well, okay, I'd pay to see it anyway.

So, how's that working out for you?

[Knowing how crazy the 'dome sometimes gets, it's totally possible for a ball to end up as heavy as a brick. Hopefully that isn't the case, though.]

[...S-snort. Oh, Twilight. You serious?]

A race against me in the air? Man, that's gutsy coming from you. This won't be any old hoof race.

I'd have to find someone pretty good at techno-stuff to make one, but I guess I could scope out the shops for some extra large controller. Something with a way bigger joystick would make my life a million times easier.

Just fine, like I thought it would! [Heh.] See? Here, you have a try.

[After the next toss into the air, Caius taps the ball over to Rainbow with his fist. The ball certainly seems fine weight wise, but did that face on it wink just now?]

I'm sure there's one around! I mean, we've gotta lot of people around here. There has to be someone that could do it!

... but the shop is your best bet, yeah. I wouldn't doubt it if you could find a controller like that, anyway.

[Oookay, the winking is kinda creepy, but she'll roll with it. Once the ball draws close enough, she'll bump it back with her head.]

Okay, at least it still feels like a ball.

Oh, I know. Maybe you're rusty after being away from Ponyville for so long. [ She grins and flexes her wings. ] On your mark!

I know this clearing in the woods over by the battle dome... I go play catch there sometimes if you think you can handle it.

Right? Don't worry about it. We need to figure out how we're actually going to play now.

[He scoops the ball back up and looks around the empty field.]

I don't know how this is going to work, unless there's something we can play with just a ball.

Me, rusty? In your dreams!

[Still, she gets into position, eyes narrowed and tail swishing. They're starting up a race, so small talk can wait.]

Get set...

Can I handle it? You're talking to Ponyville's top athlete. Games like catch are totally second nature to me now.

Well, we could draw a line across the ground and pretend it's a net. It's a whole lot easier to pass over, but at least it'd work as a marker...

[Plus, they could still try to keep the ball off the ground on their side.]
