I know this place is full of fighters and all, but are there any athletes hanging around? I'm talking people who're into stuff like sports. Racing. Excitement. Not to mention competition.

See, it's fine keeping myself busy with some solo challenges, and there's no way I'm gonna stop working on my stunts, but I figure it'd be good to have some more variety. Plus, there could be some kind of super cool sport we don't even have in Equestria.

...Which means you should totally tell me if there is. Stuff like soccer, tennis, and hang gliding? I've already tried all of the above. I want something a bit more exciting than that.

[Hm, is there something she's forgoten? Oh, right.]

And if you see a purple pony with wings and a horn hanging around, that's Twilight. Try not to stare too hard if you see her; it gets old fast, and she's still adjusting.

[ Twilight's just gonna stare at you for a bit. Then she clears her throat. ]

Hey, Rainbow... where did you get those? [ And she draws a circle around one eye with a hoof. She means the goggles. Because they are awesome. ]

Just did some digging around the item shop. Pretty sweet, huh?

[She pulls the goggles away from her eyes and flicks her wings.]

They've probably got others buried somewhere. I've found all kinds of cool things there before.

Yeah, that's actually a pretty good idea! Hold on.

[ Video off, and a little while later it's back on. Twilight is sporting a NEW PAIR OF FLYING GOG- er, flying safety goggles, actually. ] What do you think?

[Oh hey, more bright horses! Red likes talking to 'em enough. Plus you said the magic word, fighter! ... Even though you're not talking about that really.]

Well... I was in a bike race once! I've never really done any running or anything. I'm not an athlete either.

Hey, races are races. Might not be the same as hoofing it, but I'd argue that's still kinda athletic.

[Hey, Dash ain't gonna be picky, really. Besides, people who can fight are also pretty rad.]

[...Twilight. Twilight, please.

At first, Dash tries to hold back her laughter. She really does. She even covers her mouth with her hoof to no avail before she finally caves.]

Oh man... Those are egghead goggles!

[ Twilight's a little taken aback at first, but she rolls her eyes and gives what she thinks is a heroic pose. ]

Oh, Rainbow Dash. From where I'm standing, these would fit just as well on you, too. By your own standards.

[ She pauses to think. ] Is that even the right way to put it? Maybe I should say "from when".

[ TIMELINE KNOWLEDGE SMACKDOWN. ]

[A pause, followed by a shrug.]

None taken! I thought you'd understand what it's like by now, though. I've seen you trying to hide that Daring Do book as a doorstop, Dash, but you can't fool me.

I-is there a reason someone might stare at your, um, friend more than any other given talking brightly colored small equine..?

[He's only played a few sports in his time here, but they were all pretty cool and exciting to him. Granted he's never tried tennis, soccer or hang gliding, before so he doesn't have much to go off of when it comes to 'exciting sports'.]

Have you ever tried volleyball? There was a whole competition for it last year.

Staring isn't cool, period. It gets obnoxious, and you wouldn't like getting stared at by a total stranger, right?

[She expects it, but it's still annoying in principle.]

Ha! I've already participated in one of the volleyball tournaments here, and it's definitely one of the sports we've got back home.

Certainly not, but that doesn't really answer the question! By drawing attention to her, and then saying don't stare, it's inviting it! But if she's not ... much ... different from any other talking little equine appearancewise ... I'm sure she's different personalitywise but on looks alone ... ...why would anyone stare?

I enjoy swimming when I have the opportunity. [Horses can swim, she recalls. Maybe this athlete pony enjoys it? She can hope.]

So have I! And I did pretty well too. [If he does say so himself.]

[ Grinning widely. ] Whatever you say. [ She's gonna find a way to get you to read just a little bit, Rainbow. Just you watch. ]

Are you out flying now? I could probably use the practice.

[He's gotten used to the animals around town talking to him, so thankfully he doesn't freak out ~~again~~ when he sees a... horse on the other end of the feed.]

[And then sports! Definitely! He's grinning brightly when he focuses the video on himself, always excited to talk about his hobbies.]

Have you ever played baseball? Er... Can you play baseball..? [You know, because having hooves might put a kink in trying to hold a bat.]

I've heard of soccer and tennis, but what's hang gliding? I don't think we have that in my world.

[Twilight. Wings. This is the perfect chance for her to take in her own pupil! Show her the ropes on how to be an awesome acrobat.]

Tell you what, Twilight. Why don't I swoop down and grab you myself? Then I'll show you the ropes.

Well, okay, I guess you've got a point there. Twilight's just new, that's all. Guess the real difference is that she's an alicorn, so she's got wings and a horn. And I'm pretty sure that's exclusive to princesses.

It is kinda tempting when you put it that way.

Hey, I hear ya. I swam at least a couple hundred laps at the hot springs while I had the chance.

Yes and yes! C'mon, you gotta give us ponies some credit.

[After all, it's not like she's built like a regular horse, as evidenced by the way she reaches up and pulls those aviator goggles down from her eyes. Awfully big eyes, but that aside...]
