[Early in the day, people throughout the village might spot a suspicious rainbow streak jetting upwards into the sky. Higher and higher and higher she flies... Until, suddenly, that rainbow streak is rapidly plummeting down, faster and faster until there's a resounding CRASH!
Oh, was that your house she bumped into? Maybe your garden? Business? Whatever the case, there will be a few of these ridiculous crashes until Rainbow, being the stubborn pegasus that she is, moves onto plan B.
A bit later, something a little strange will appear... a cloud floating around the village. Now, seeing clouds in the sky isn't all that abnormal. Just another part of everyday weather.
But what about clouds that float ridiculously close to rooftops? Clouds that hover suspiciously over buildings, people, and are isolated from the others? Tiny clouds that, if one looks close enough, they may catch a bit of a rainbow fringe, sometimes a pair of binoculars, over the edge of the fluffy white stuff.
That's right. This cloud is spying on you strange people. ...Or whatever's up in the cloud, anyway.
Feel free to witness either event-- Dash's crash landings from the lovely barrier or her recon mission.]

[Action, recon mission]
...hello?
[Action, recon mission]
So she's suddenly popping her head out and making a weeeird face. Blegh!]
[Action]
[She takes a sudden step back, but doesn't stumble or drop her grocery bag. After living in Luceti for so long, she's learned to expect weirdness.]
...who are you?
[Action]
Aw well.]
Name's Rainbow Dash. [A beat.]
You know, I think you're one of the first people who hasn't freaked out.
[Action]
Well, I'm used to a lot of weirdness. I'm Rydia Highwind, a volunteer at the Welcome Center.
[Action]
[Though it makes sense, if people keep showing up here outta the blue.]
[Action]
[Action]
[She does the pony equivalent of a shrug and then brings herself to the ground. Yep, totally gonna let that cloud hover close to the ground like it's nothing.
She can always get rid of it later.]
[Action]
It's right this way.
[She starts them off after switching her bag to the other arm.]
What have you learned so far? I can try to help fill in the gaps.
[Action]
Stuff about Mal... nose-ohs and experiments. I guess this place is called Luceti? And somebody said that you use books to talk to people here.
[Action]
The Malnosso built this place...and yes, they run experiments. We should be getting one later this month, though I can't say what form it will take. That always changes. Whatever form it takes, Luceti is bound to become chaotic in that time.
[Action]
[...or however that kinda stuff works. She's never been into the egg-head lifestyle.]
[Action]
[Action]
[Or unicorn magic gone horribly wrong.]
[Action]
[Action]
[Wonderful.]
Isn't there any way to prevent them?
[Action]
[Upon reaching the Welcome Center, Rydia holds open the door for her guest. The area inside is homey and comfortable, with overstuffed chairs and sofas. There's a (currently unused) fireplace, and potted plants line the windowsills. On the walls are several maps, showing the town as well as the area surrounding it.]
After you.
[Action]
[Just what she needed to hear-- but! At least the Welcome Center is a good distraction. She'll slip on inside and take a look around.
Huh. It doesn't look so bad.]
[Action]
[She can at least get a bowl ready or somesuch.]
[Action]
[Yep. A cartoon horse asking for something most horses would never drink... Ah, the logic of MLP.]
I mean, it's no big deal. I could always grab something later.
[Action]
[She's grateful that some was made earlier, and goes to snag a bowl for her guest and a cup for herself. It only takes a moment and she's back out, setting down the bowl.]
Here you go.
[Action]
Uh, thanks.
[She stares at the bowl for a few seconds and then reaches for it, scooping it up off the ground with her hooves-- almost like they're hands. Gee, this is awkward.]
[Action]
...I can get you a glass instead? I thought that would be easier, sorry.
[Action]
It's okay, I guess. Nothing I can't handle.
[Action]
Hey, there's no need. What's the point of having this here if I can't help put others at ease, right?
